Sonor Ensemble

Ensemble

Representation in Spain and Portugal

The Sonor Ensemble is formed by soloists and members of the Spanish National Orchestra. It is one of the most entrenched chamber music groups in the Spanish musical scene and its activity has continued stable and uninterrupted since its foundation in 2004 by maestro Luis Aguirre and by the cellist José María Mañero. It is also one of the most internationally renowned Spanish ensembles: They have performed nearly 200 concerts in the most outstanding festivals in Spain, as well as in countries such as Bulgaria, Finland, Sweden, Switzerland, China, South Korea, Poland, Russia, Italy, Argentina, France, Iceland and Portugal, where for seven years Sonor Ensemble has participated without interruption in the Lisbon-Estoril Festival.

From the beginning the Sonor Ensemble has had a commitment to contemporary creation. The group have been the recipient of numerous works composed especially for them by composers such as Zulema de la Cruz, Claudio Prieto, Delfín Colomé, Federico Jusid, Oliver Rappoport, Luis de Pablo, Gloria Isabel Ramos, José Luis Turina, Sebastián Mariné, Consuelo Díez, and a long list of composers that increases year after year.

The Sonor Ensemble has recorded for RNE, RTVE, National Radio of Iceland and for the label Fundación Autor. During several years they carried out an important pedagogical activity with the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Community of Madrid, offering annually a long series of concerts intended for thousands of students of the Region of Madrid.

Invited by the Ministry of Culture of Argentina, the Sonor Ensemble also participated with concerts and educational activities in the commemorative acts of the Argentine Bicentennial in Buenos Aires.
